First, trusting in Christ means that you’re not relying upon yourself, but on Christ to get you into heaven. We cannot get to heaven by doing good deeds, things that we think will make us acceptable to God. Rather, we need to be forgiven of our sins, realizing that Jesus died for our sins. And what He did for us on the cross is the only way to have our sins forgiven. The Bible says…
“All the [Old Testament] prophets testify about him [Jesus] that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” (Acts 10:43)
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” (Ephesians 1:7) After someone trusts in Christ for the forgiveness of their sins, a new life begins — “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2Cor. 5:17) The person becomes a follower of Christ. As a follower of Christ, a person relies upon Jesus in other areas of their life, not just for forgiveness of sin.
For example, Jesus said that He is the Teacher (John 13:13-14). He told His disciples that He would send the Holy Spirit to them, and that the Holy Spirit would teach them all things (John 14:26) and guide them into all truth (John 16:13). God teaches a person His ways and His truth. In terms of our values and our behavior, He cleans out stuff in our thinking that’s not right, and shows us from His perspective what is correct. This is another way in which God loves us. He is the One who knows all truth, and He wants us to build our lives on His truth. Jesus said…
“Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24-25)
“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29) The most important part of following Christ is to learn from Him. By relying on Christ as our Teacher, He guides us into living a new life that is according to His will and is according to truth. He shows us how to live, and will even guide us in how to pray. When we learn what He wants from us, then we rely on His strength and power (the Holy Spirit) to do those things. Following Christ is all about relying upon Him. He told His disciples, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)
1. Admit you are a sinner.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
2. Believe that Jesus died to pay for your sins, was buried and was raised from the dead.
“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
3. Call on the Lord in faith and repentance.
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13
1. By Church Letter if you are now a member of a Baptist church.
2. By Profession of faith and baptism, if you have experienced salvation by grace through faith in Christ.
3. By Baptism if you are currently a member of another denomination but have experienced salvation by grace through faith in Christ.
4. By Statement if you have been saved and baptized by immersion
Pastor’s Note | Testimonies | FAQ
As I think about all that God has done for us as a church body, my heart is filled with great joy. When I think of the facility He has given us and the people He has called to serve here, there is no doubt that He has done this so we can impact the lives of others. How can we help but stand in awe at the mighty works God has done?
With this in mind, I think the wording of our Stewardship Campaign Theme is perfect – Fan Into Flame. The actions of God that we see happening around us are just embers compared to where He wants to take us. As we, by faith, fan these embers, flames arise and the glory of God shines brighter and further. How do we fan these embers by faith? The answer is the same as it was in the days of the faith walkers in the Bible. We must step up in obedience and we must be willing to sacrificially give above and beyond the tithe. I believe with all my heart if we come together as one, being obedient and sacrificial, God will do works that will not only amaze us, but will touch lives all around us.
This requires boldness on our part. It requires that we put feet to our words. Do we truly trust God? Our actions will reveal the answer more than our words.
I encourage you to examine this brochure carefully. This is about more than just a debt to be retired. This is about the people of God being faithful to the One who has given us so much and longs to open the storehouse of heaven. The impact of what we do in this campaign will go beyond just our church body. Our faithfulness will impact the lives of our children and grandchildren and it will touch the hearts of lost people we may never even know. With that in mind, let us fan our embers of faith into flames of action and let the whole world know that we believe in and serve a might God.
In His Love,
Pastor Jeff
I am very grateful to belong to the Family of God at First Baptist Church. We have always had a vision and a desire to love, encourage and strengthen one another by following Christ’s Great Commission to Go, Tell, Teach and Reach a lost and dying world. It is a joy to be a part of what God has done and is continuing to do in and through this beautiful new facility. Here, we have many opportunities to welcome everyone to grow in their own spiritual journey and to touch lives, both here and around the world.

We are looking forward to the amazing things God will do when His people follow in obedience. We have seen firsthand how God blesses a cheerful giver. He has blessed us with His love, His forgiveness, His healing, and the fellowship and love of this church family.

Yes, we are blessed to be in our new church. This beautiful facility shows GOD can and does answer prayers. It stands as a testimony to the commitment, we as Christians, have to spread God’s good news throughout our city and world. We have so many outreach programs going on at our new church. One the great outreach programs that comes to my mind is Celebrate Recovery, a Christian based 12 step program to help people overcome hurts, habits and hang ups with the help of GOD.

God drew us to FBC during a difficult time. Since then He has used this body of believers to change our lives in so many ways. FBC was a refuge for us and I know it will continue to be that for so many others in the years to come. God is doing amazing things in our church and we wouldn’t want anyone to miss it!

How will paying off our debt help us reach our community for Christ?
Retiring our debt will enable us to put additional resources into new and on-going ministries to our community. God has blessed us with a wonderful facility. Now we need the resources to maximize its potential to reach our community for Christ and the glory of God.
How long is the commitment for this campaign?
The Fan Into Flame campaign will last for three years.
What is the current financial condition of the church and how will we manage the current budget?
Like most of you, our church has been impacted by our nation’s financial crisis. Current levels of giving are not meeting operating expenses. A portion of campaign money will have to be used to subsidize the mortgage payment until regular giving increases. However, other spending will not increase. Our staff is working diligently to manage current ministry and operationing expenses.
Why should I sign a pledge to the Fan Into Flame campaign over the next three years?
While it is common for people to make financial commitments every day in the form of signed agreements, this commitment is an act of faith and obedience. We are taking the step of faith that God will supply all our needs plus the amount of our pledge. This is a promise between each of us and God. A deliberate decision to obey God is solidified by completing a commitment card.
What are the different ways I can give?
Even a small gift, given regularly, can add up to a substantial donation over time. Get creative—defer major purchases, hold a garage sale, get the children involved with extra chores around the house, reduce spending, give your tax refund. It’s a great way to involve your whole family in giving up something you love so that you can give to Someone you love even more… Jesus Christ.
How can I help?
First and foremost, please pray regularly for our Fan Into Flame campaign. Participate in the events and meetings. Make a commitment to learn as much as you can about the campaign and the vision it will help us realize. Give sacrificially. The vision God has granted us can only be achieved through faith and sacrifice. We have the privilege to be a part of growing His Kingdom in these last days!
