PASTOR’S PONDERING
Pastor’s Class features the work and video series “Simple Life”. Authors Thom S. Rainer and Art Rainer interviewed a cross-section of 1,077 individuals to confirm that most people feel their lives are overly stressful and misguided, not allowing enough time for what really counts. As they share these highly relatable stories, the Rainers chart a simple path from joyless to joyful. Breaking life down into four key sections (Time, Relationships, God, Money), the authors show how four key goals (Clarity, Movement, Alignment, Focus) can begin to foster a life that is more spiritual and less busy, a life rich in experiences with family and friends. Vision is so important. I have watched as my physical vision has declined over the last nine years. Yes, I hit 40 and started falling apart. Vision is important to us physically but also spiritually. The Bible tells us in Prov. 29:19 – Where there is no vision the people perish. The NIV says, “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint. I have been studying this text today and I know the importance of vision. It applies to us as individuals as well as a congregation. As a pastor, I must spend time with the Lord and have a godly vision from Him. It is then imperative that I share that vision with the congregation. This is something I really want to focus on over the next few weeks. I believe, based on the text I have shared today, that with a unity around a godly vision, the congregation is able to move together as one and focus more on the task of a godly purpose. Without that vision, we go in many different directions and accomplish very little. I look forward to using this means of communication, as well as others, to cast God’s Vision to us as a congregation and look forward to seeing mighty things He is going to do.
At the same time, I encourage you to do the same thing in your life and with your family. Seek to know God’s vision for your life and then hone in on making it a reality. We need to make sure that our lives line up with our Lord. James MacDonald said today, “Life needs to match our acknowledgement of the Lordship of Christ.” I think this starts by having His vision become the driving purpose for you and your family. I will be praying for you to see God’s vision for your life and your family. I encourage you to pray for me as I seek God’s will for our church and then seek to cast that vision to us as a congregation. When we catch His vision and implement it into our lives and our church, it will be amazing the see the results God will bring.
God bless you,
Pastor Jeff
